Macey go to Drama School

Hi my names Macey. You may or may not know me, but I absolutely love theatre, and performing. I have recently been accepted onto a Foundation Course at The Dang Academy and I need help in raising funds for it. My entire life I’ve dedicated to performing and getting closer and closer to achieving my goal of doing it as a career. I can’t really remember the day I decided to change it from a hobby to a career, but it was a momentous day I’m sure. When I was younger I joined the Young Theatre Company in Worksop, and stayed there until January 2021. Over my time there I played many roles in their shows including Snow White (Snow White), Prince Charming (Cinderella) and the Fairy Godmother (Dick Whittington), to name a few. The Young Theatre Company was an amazing opportunity for me to perform and really opened my eyes as an actor and as a person. Not only did it help me develop my acting skills, it gave me life skills and confidence that have been useful in day to day life. Over COVID, and the closure of theatres, I really tried to do everything I could to keep the entertainment industry alive. I joined a few theatre groups online to keep my love alive and to chat amongst other theatre enthusiasts. I met some pretty cool people from all around the world and we decided to put on little zoom readings of our favourite musicals. I was given the opportunity to play as some of my dream roles, with different kinds of people, from around the globe, all from the comfort of my sofa. This was such a fun time for me, and I’ve made some great friends for life. In September 2020, I started sixth form at my school doing 3 A levels. Don’t get me wrong, I loved it, but it wasn’t me. So I decided to look at other options in which I found Stageworks. I then decided to audition in the December, and I got in! I then contacted my school and reduced my hours in the sixth form as I was going to be leaving to take on a different path. During my time at Netherthorpe I was given so many opportunities such as school shows, charity events, award performances and was always involved in the arts. I played Jan in Grease and was set to play Summer in School of Rock before COVID. I truly owe it all to my drama teacher, Mr Green. He helped me when I was struggling and praised me the most when I soared. He helped me express myself and my love of theatre in ways I could never have imagined. He was truly my biggest supporter and helped me with my decision to leave Sixth Form. In September 2021, I started at Stageworks Studios studying a Level 3 BTEC in Musical Theatre. I moved all the way down to Cambridge and started living my life. Stageworks has given me so many amazing experiences I will cherish forever and has truly started my journey into this industry. I started things like Tap. I hadn’t even put a pair of tap shoes on before, and in July i will be in a tap piece in my graduation show, which is something I’d never even believe I could do. My singing has been pushed and has become better than i ever thought It’d be. I have been taught for 2 years by industry professionals and had an amazing time doing so. I recently performed in ‘All Shook Up’ as Mayor Matilda, and honestly had the best time in such a professional work space. As my time at Stageworks draws to a close, I have been auditioning for other places for further education. I have been incredibly lucky to get a place at The Dang Academy in London. This course has an amazing success rate for future courses and is very prestigious and well known in the industry. Unfortunately this comes at a cost of £10,000 for the course. This is a lot of money and I would absolutely love your help in raising the funds for it.  A quick mention to my mum, who has been my absolute rock in all of this, and will be glad when I make my west end debut ahahah.
