Mac McGinnis Recovery Fund
On December 29, 2017 while skiing with friends near South Lake Tahoe, California Mac was critically injured in a skiing accident. He was airlifted to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, Nevada where he will be in the Intensive Care Unit and on a ventilator for a minimum of 30 days per his medical team. Mac has many very serious injuries; all of his ribs are broken, he has multiple other broken bones, most organs have been affected, his lungs have been severely damaged and he has a very long, difficult road to recovery. He has had two surgeries to date, with more surgeries ahead of him. Because of the severe nature of his lung injuries, these additional surgeries will have to wait. At this time Mac is in a medically induced coma and very critical condition. In the last 48 hours he has had some very serious setbacks that we pray he can overcome.
Mac is a graduate of Maine South High School and the University of Missouri. He most recently has been working and residing in San Francisco, California. He has a big family and huge support system in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. As well as many friends and coworkers in California.
The financial need in this situation is so great when you consider:
The nature of his injuries;
Extended absence from work for not only Mac but his father John who remains by his side;
Cost of living expenses for living in Reno long term;
All of his current bills;
Flying immediate family back and forth to care for and encourage Mac and the family through his recovery; and
The continued time and cost of his care and recovery down the road.
We clearly see the hand of God in his survival of this accident. The emotional and financial cost of this journey will not be easy for Mac and his family.
