Born, on April 23, 1991 in Arrecife in Lanzarote. Son of Simon Paul Carver and Valerie Jane Geraldine Carver and sister of Geraldine Jane Carver. Resident at Camino La Caldereta, 82, La Asomada, Macher, 35571 Tias, Lanzarote.
Thomas Carver, until January 16, 2013, was a very healthy young guy and was in top form. He was athletic and took good care of himself, being fond of bodybuilding. He even helped many people overcome weight problems and lack of self esteem, teaching them how they can succeed in their struggle to get fit and improve their physical appearance. He had passed all the tests to get the title of a beach life guard, in spite of suffering a lung disease. He was in the prime of his life, at the age of 21. He has always been a great guy, generous, loved and admired by all who have known him, for his good character and determination to achieve all his goals.
On January 16, 2013, his world turned upside down. He had been ill with a virus, for some time and this had left him with what appeared to be a bad cough. However, neither Thomas nor his family realized that he had developed pneumonia and during that night, Thomas was very ill and lost consciousness. Thomas's mother raised the alarm when she could not wake him up the next morning and he was immediately transferred by ambulance to 'hospital Dr. Jose Molina Orosa "General Hospital, Arrecife. He was admitted to intensive care with a diagnosis of sepsis as a result hypoxic brain injury, and was in high risk of a unilateral organ failure. His heart, kidneys and liver were swollen and were on the way to shutting down. A fantastic job was done by the entire hospital team, in order to prevent the worst from happening.
He remained in intensive care for more than two weeks and when stabilized, he was transferred to the general ward, in a state of coma. The hospital has done a great job to save the life of Thomas and attend to the care he needs.
Despite the good care he has received, the hospital did not have the appropriate specialists as therapists for rehabilitation.
Tom needed a specialized neurological rehabilitation, with the help of a multidisciplinary team of specialists, to give him the best chance to regain a quality of life and, God willing, independence that he deserves. We had to move fast, rather than waiting for the bureaucrtatic system, to allow him to stagnate and possibly never progress, so we sent him to the Queen Elizabeth Foundation, special Brain Injury Clinic in Banstead, Surry, where they did a superlative job to get him where he is now. We scraped together what we could, but after 20 months, of intensive treatment, in one of the best environments that we could wish for, we still owe almost 180,000 euros and he still has some way to go, in his recovery. We need your help with this.
Currently, Thomas has some uncoordinated movement his limbs. He can just about speak and he is showing positive signs of trying to communicate, with an obviously intelligent mind.
We are doing our best to piece together all that he needs, from home. Please be generous, so that he may have a reasonable chance of a normal life.

Thomas Carver, hasta el 16 de enero de 2013, era un chico joven muy sano y estaba en plena forma. Él era atlético y cuidaron muy bien de sí mismo, ser aficionado del culturismo. Incluso ayudó a muchas personas a superar problemas de peso y la falta de autoestima, enseñándoles cómo pueden tener éxito en su lucha para ponerse en forma y mejorar su apariencia física. Él había pasado todas las pruebas para obtener el título de un socorrista de playa, a pesar de padecer una enfermedad pulmonar. Él estaba en el mejor momento de su vida, a la edad de 21. Él siempre ha sido un gran tipo, generoso, querido y admirado por todos los que lo han conocido, por su buen carácter y determinación para lograr todas sus metas.
El 16 de enero de 2013, su mundo dió una vuelta al revés. Había estado enfermo con un virus, por algún tiempo y esto le había dejado con lo que parecía ser una tos fuerte. Sin embargo, ni Tomás ni su familia se dieron cuenta de que había desarrollado una neumonía y durante esa noche, Thomas estaba muy enfermo y perdió el conocimiento. La madre de Thomas dió la alarma cuando ella no podía despertar a la mañana siguiente y fue trasladado de inmediato en ambulancia al Hospital Dr. José Molina Orosa "General Hospital, de Arrecife. Fue ingresado en cuidados intensivos con el diagnóstico de sepsis como resultado lesión cerebral hipóxico, y estaba en alto riesgo de una falla orgánica unilateral. Su corazón, los riñones y el hígado estaban hinchados y estaban en caminados a apagarse. Un trabajo fantástico, hecho por todo el equipo del hospital, pudo evitar que sucediesa lo peor.
Él permanecía en cuidados intensivos durante más de dos semanas y cuando estabilizado, fue trasladado a la planta general, en un estado de coma. El hospital hizó un gran trabajo para salvar la vida de Thomas y atender a los cuidados que necesitaba.
A pesar de la buena atención que recibía, el hospital no contaba con los especialistas adecuados como terapeutas de rehabilitación.
Tom necesitaba una rehabilitación neurológica especializada, con la ayuda de un equipo multidisciplinario de especialistas, que le dará la mejor oportunidad de recuperar una calidad de vida y, si Dios quisiera, la independencia que se merece. Tuvimos que movernos rápido, en lugar de esperar a que el sistema bureaucrtatic, para permitir que él se estanquiese y posiblemente nunca progresara, así que le enviamos a la Fundación Reina Elizabeth, Clínica especial Lesiones Cerebrales en Banstead, Surrey, donde hicieron un trabajo superlativo, para que él pudiera llegar hasta donde está ahora. Reunímos los fondos que pudieramos, pero después de 20 meses de tratamiento intensivo, en uno de los mejores ambientes que podríamos desear, todavía se deben casi 180.000 euros, y él todavía tiene mucho camino por recorrer, en su recuperación. Necesitamos su ayuda con esto.
Actualmente, Thomas tiene algo de movimiento descoordinado, en sus extremidades. Él puede hablar y él está mostrando signos positivos de tratar de comunicarse, con una mente obviamente inteligente.
