We could use some help

First of all, let me begin by expressing my deep regret for having believed that I had this situation under control. I have a good job and thought everything was going well. Or so I thought. My plan was always to bring my mom Beatriz to Spain so she could benefit from the public health system, as Venezuela's is in a very precarious situation.

Everything seemed to be going well, as planned, until earlier this year when my mother needed an emergency tracheotomy due to respiratory problems. A year earlier, she had undergone thyroid cancer surgery followed by radioactive iodine treatment. I thought we were on the right track, but something started growing in her throat that hindered her normal breathing. As soon as the tracheotomy was performed and we started dealing with the care she needed, maintenance, and expenses, I realized we were in trouble.

Absolutely everything needs to be paid for, from every syringe, solution, suction catheter, to every gauze, and believe me, there are quite a few, every day. Fortunately, we were able to find nurses and physiotherapists who take care of her at home excellently and at reasonable prices. My mother's room has practically turned into a clinic.

It all boils down to numbers. No matter how many surgeries have been performed, another one or several more are always needed. Right now, we are preparing for the next one, which has an approximate cost of $5600, seeking the lowest price, which wouldn't be so costly if it weren't for the $1500 we are already spending monthly on care and maintenance. Furthermore, the Euro to Dollar exchange system is so complicated that you end up paying at least 20% more, always.

At this moment, the whole family is contributing as much as they can, with money, time, and support. I greatly appreciate all of this, and I want to be transparent by saying that the amount I am requesting is based on projected monthly expenses for a year for tracheotomy care and maintenance. I believe this would give us some breathing room to save up for the upcoming surgeries until I can finally bring her to Spain.

If you know me and cannot contribute, there is no problem at all. You shouldn't feel bad about it. But I want you to know that any amount, even a dollar, is more than enough to feel your support. Thank you very much.

En primer lugar, permítanme comenzar expresando mi profundo pesar por haber creído que tenía esta situación bajo control. Poseo un buen trabajo y creía que todo marchaba bien. O eso creía. Mi plan siempre fue traer a mi mamá Beatriz a España para que pudiera beneficiarse del sistema de salud público, ya que el de Venezuela está en una situación muy precaria.

Todo parecía ir bien, como lo había planeado, hasta que a principios de año mi madre necesitó una traqueotomía de emergencia debido a problemas respiratorios.

Un año antes había sido operada de cáncer de tiroides, seguido de un tratamiento con yodo radiactivo. Pensé que íbamos por buen camino, pero algo empezó a crecer en su garganta que impide su respiración normal, apenas se realizó la traqueotomía y comenzamos a lidiar con los cuidados que necesitaba, mantenimiento y sus gastos, me di cuenta de que estábamos en problemas.

Absolutamente todo debe ser pagado, desde cada jeringa ,solución, sonda de aspirar y cada gasa, y créanme, son bastantes, todos los días. Afortunadamente, pudimos encontrar enfermeras y fisioterapeuta que la cuidan en casa de manera excelente y a precios razonables. La habitación de mi madre prácticamente se ha convertido en una clínica.

Todo se reduce a números. No importa cuántas cirugías se hayan realizado, siempre se necesita otra o varias más. Justo ahora nos estamos preparando para la próxima, que tiene un costo aproximado de $5600 buscando el precio mas bajo, lo cual no es tan costoso si no fuera por los $1500 mensuales que ya estamos gastando en cuidados y mantenimientos. Además, el sistema de cambio de Euros a Dólares está tan complicado que terminas pagando al menos un 20% más, siempre.

En este momento, toda la familia está contribuyendo como puede, con dinero, tiempo y apoyo. Agradezco enormemente todo esto y quiero ser transparente al decir que la cantidad que estoy solicitando está basada en los gastos mensuales proyectados a un año para los cuidados y mantenimiento del traqueotomo, creo que eso nos daría un respiro para poder ahorrar lo necesario para las próximas cirugías, hasta que finalmente pueda traerla a España.

Si me conoces y no puedes contribuir, no hay ningún problema. No tienes porqué sentirte mal al respecto. Pero quiero que sepas que cualquier cantidad, aunque sea un dólar, es más que suficiente para sentir tu apoyo, muchisimas gracias
