The Nia Hailey Simpson Memorial Fund

Our hearts are so heavy with the loss of sweet 16-year-old Nia.

Nia battled a brief, undiagnosed illness that surpassed the minds of doctors at Yale, Harvard, and around the world. Over the last month, the Simpson family has felt the love and support of their close-knit community through meals prepared, words of sympathy, and constant prayer. The family is forever grateful and only asks for continued spiritual support as they navigate this unfathomable tragedy.

To honor the beautiful, amazing light that is Nia Simpson, the Ridgefield community would like to create the “Nia Hailey Simpson Memorial Fund.” The Simpson family will have complete oversight of the fund, which will be used for the following:

•To establish a scholarship in her memory at Ridgefield High School that embodies Nia’s spirit: compassionate, creative, diligent and ambitious.

•To donate to medical research; a neurologist at Yale believes Nia’s condition is survivable. The Simpsons would like to help accelerate the research.

•To create a planting in the community as a living memory for Nia.

With this small gesture, we hope Safiya, Dave and Jalen feel our arms wrap around them and carry their family and Nia into the future.
