1. MY CURRENT SITUATION:
As a result of the current COVID-19 pandemic, after 10 years, it saddens me to announce that I have lost my position as the resident pianist for the RACV City Club in Melbourne's CBD .
What's more, my wedding gigs in the immediate future have either been postponed until 2021 or indefinitely.
However, this is not the first time I have faced uncertainty.
2. TOUGH TIMES IN THE PAST:
In June 2013, I injured my right knee (tearing my ACL, medial meniscus and lateral meniscus) playing a social game of tennis, which put me out of work for several months on several occasions.
In July 2013, I underwent a knee reconstructive surgery. However, due to complications, I was in hospital for 5 days and 4 nights for what should have been a routine overnight stay . Three months later, my surgery was deemed unsuccessful and this left me unable to walk for several months, unable to perform and caused extreme stress.
In January 2014, after medical advice, I underwent a second surgery to reverse my knee reconstruction. I underwent intense physiotherapy for 12 months. During my recovery, I cancelled more performances. This also took a toll on my mental and social health as well.
In February 2015, I underwent a third and final surgery to operate on BOTH of my legs simultaneously. The surgeon took the hamstring from my left leg to recreate an ACL graft for my injured right knee. I was required to relearn how to stand up, sit down, walk up and down stairs. This process took more than 4 years to relearn how to even run.
Today, if you look at me know, I look strong and healthy, but I am not and never will be 100%. I have endured physical pain and some challenging times socially, emotionally and mentally as well financial stress whilst trying to keep a mortgage and bills going on a single income.
While I do other work during the day (which has also been reduced), my work as a musician has now come to a halt.
3. YOUR SUPPORT:
I will be posting regular performances on my Instagram channel for you to enjoy and I hope that you can make a small contribution to help me maintain day to day life, but ONLY if you can afford it as I know most Australian's will be doing it tough in the months to come!!!
This will help me pay my bills for me and my retired parents who rely on :)
