Jobs for Adults w/Special Needs
Donation protected
Five years ago a local mother tried desperately to find employment for her daughter with special needs. When her search proved fruitless she took matters into her own hands and she and her daughter began selling used prom dresses at the local high school. From those humble beginnings, a resale shop emerged where she now employs and trains individuals with special needs. The training site includes a laundry, e-bay computer room and, in the summer, a garden where produce is grown and sold at a local farmer's market.
There are many young adults who, when they transition out of the school system, are unable to find work.
My goal is to raise money to expand the laundry training site in order to employ 6 employees with special needs. Once the start-up costs are met, the laundry will hopefully be self-sustaining. There are currently two students who are employed and there is a demand for their services so we know the customer base is there. We just need the funds to help us expand.
