Mom's Major Surgery

Donation protected
This past Christmas (2014), we learned our Mom Laura (de la Nux) Stanford has to have major surgery involving a Hysterectomy and other serious related matters. It scares us to our core. Our mom has been the rock of our family. She made sure we always had what we needed and that our medical needs were taken care of. She worked so hard, sometimes having to take us to work with her because she couldn’t afford childcare (but we loved those days). She raised us basically on her own and is still there for us whenever we need her. She made sacrifices for us with joy and a smile on her face. She recently married a wonderful man, the love of her life, our step-dad, who will be beside her all the way. But now she is in daily pain, sometimes so bad she can’t walk or get up from lying down or sitting. We can see the pain she’s feeling as we see her go to work, make a home and carry on with her life. She’s told us because of the burdens this will create financially and emotionally for her husband and our family, she will put the surgery off “until we can financially afford it”. The doctor’s have told her she shouldn’t wait more than 6 months to have this surgery so that is why we are reaching out for your help as we simply don’t have the means to wait and try to save for it! Time is also not her friend because as she waits, the internal problems are worsening and her pain increasing. She’s being a real trooper and trying to stay strong, but we can clearly see it taking a toll on her, and seeing her in pain everyday is tearing us up. We are scared at the real possibility she won’t be able to have the surgery in time and the internal problems will multiply to the point where they cannot be surgically repaired. Her health insurance will cover some of the surgery but she’ll need $5,000 to even start it, she’ll have a great deal of out-of-pocket medical expenses (her health plan doesn’t cover everything), and she won’t have any income for at least 10 weeks with the real possibility that her employer won’t hold her job for her (they are not obligated to FMLA or TDI). She means the world to us and everyone she knows, she’s our everything, and while we know times are financially difficult for most, we hope you can find it in your hearts and budgets to donate any amount you can; even a couple dollars is appreciated and will help us to meet our goal. It will mean the world to our family and we will be forever grateful! Thank you!!!
