M. Minnick’s broken foot fundraiser

Michael “Em” Minnick was the victim of a violent robbery on January 28th 2018 in which 3 assailants pushed him off his bicycle, stole it and attacked him with the bicycle’s childseat and his own D-lock. He was lucky to scream for help before any further damage was done, but the attack resulted in a fractured/displaced metatarsal “Linsfranc” foot bone.
The recovery time is 12 weeks+ and Em is unable to work. The charity he works for, that supports people with learning disabilities and complex needs, are only able to give a reduced sick pay and he and his family are facing a tough stretch at present. The assailants were never caught and Criminal Injury Compensation only covers loss of earnings over 29 weeks off sick!
He doesn’t feel 100% comfortable asking for help, but this situation leaves him with little other choice.
Some of you may have met Em either through work, via his daughter’s school Judith Kerr Primary School, his son’s nursery Effra Early Years Centre or perhaps at an underground music event he had a hand in organising (South London Scum, South London Punx Picnic, ScumFest.) Em also helps publicise other independent social events through Eroding Empire website and social media.
He has helped raise thousands of pounds for charities and grassroots groups through benefit gigs and festivals over the years and now he just needs a little help in his own time of need.
