Lytton Fire Disaster Relief

Tax deductible

In June of 2021, wildfires devastated over 200,000 acres of land near Lytton, BC, resulting in 2 deaths and many injured. Over 90% of the village was destroyed and forced the evacuation of nearby First Nations communities. This tragedy has resulted in a need for relief for the victims that lost their homes. British director Gerald Potterton, now 90 years old, had the opportunity to film one of his iconic films almost 50 years ago in pristine Lytton, BC. Once he learned about the tragedy of the Lytton wildfires, he decided that he wanted to help raise funds for the victims of this disaster.

In the video posted above, Gerald Potterton, Academy Award nominee, speaks about his experience filming The Railrodder (1965) with silent film star Buster Keaton in Lytton, British Columbia. The beauty of Lytton drew him back once again to film The Rainbow Boys (1973) starring British actor Donald Pleasance. This film in particular showcased the natural beauty of Lytton and holds a dear spot in Gerald's heart. To see the trailer visit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfLNdJpKsXo

Now, in memory of his experiences filming in beautiful Lytton, he is partnering with his good friend Mike Wiesel, owner of natural DIY brands Kiss Naturals and Earthy Good, to raise money to help provide relief to Lytton. Kiss Naturals & Earthy Good both sell their natural products at many BC retailers and wanted to shift their charitable focus towards helping the people of Lytton. Supporting this community is important to them because places like Lytton represent the hometown of many of their customers who are families from small Canadian towns. With natural products & environmental consciousness being the driving force behind Kiss Naturals & Earthy Good, this type of destruction from a natural disaster really hits home. They are aiming to raise $5000 to help the victims of this natural disaster and provide assistance rebuilding.
