Lydia Griffin's Heart Surgery

On October 11th my mom Lydia Griffin, a career semi driver, noticed that something wasn't right as she tried to reach for her log book; she couldn't move her arm. She also couldn't move her mouth and a feeling of numbness passed over one side of her body. She was having a mini stroke. After some time she was able to call a taxi to take her to the hospital where they confirmed that she had in fact had a mini stroke. 

The doctors ran many tests trying to figure out why this seemingly healthy woman found her self in this situation.  Two days or so later the doctors had determined that the episode was caused by a blood clot passing through a hole in her heart. They believe the hole has been there her entire life!  The doctors are confident that if the hole is closed my moms risk of stroke will be gone.  That's the good news. 

The bad news....because of the mini stroke she has lost her medical clearance to drive. Her employer does not offer short or long term disability, therefore, she has lost her job and also her insurance. This is why I'm reaching out to you all.  With no job and no insurance the future is very scary for my mom. She is going to need help with medical bills and also house hold bills in the months to come.  I'm doing everything in my power to help her, but she needs your help too. 

My mom is probably the kindest person I know and I don't want to see her stress over this situation. I just want her to worry about her health and taking it easy until she can have the heart surgery. I know that may be easier said than done but I know we can help ease the financial burden she is now under and let her know that she is not alone in this.

I will keep everyone posted with updates from doctors visits and how things are progressing for the surgery.
