Luzy and Luis Piña Road to Recovery

My name is Luis and my sister's (Luz, Lily) would like to share a story about our parents Luis and Luzy Piña.
On January 19, 2019 our Dad and Mom had made a trip to Temecula for the evening. While on their way back home that night their car a 2015 Kia Soul was struck head on by a wrong way driver that was under the influence of alcohol. The collision caused several other vehicles to collide with each other, leaving many severely injured and two in critical condition - our mother being one of them.
At the moment our father is currently under care at UCI Medical Center for multiple broken ribs, fractured clavicle and perforated bowel. He now has been at UCI for over a week and slowly making progress to start eating and taking a few steps. It is unknown at this time if he will need any more surgeries, all is dependent on how he continues to recover.
Our mother is in critical condition and being cared for by the nurses and specialist in the ICU at OC Global Medical Center. Her body has suffered multiple injuries with various fractures throughout her body. Doctor's have not been able to order a MRI for further analysis due to her two broken legs and severely damaged abdominal area that must be fixed first. She has now been hospitalized for over a week and has had multiple surgeries to repair her body. She is currently in a stable condition and has made small amounts of progress like responding to her name by moving her eyes.
It is a set of unfortunate events that have occurred and some may say it is a miracle our parents are still alive. My sister's and I are heartbroken that this has happened to our parents but know that we must remain positive and optimistic. We are very grateful and appreciative of the family, friends and church members that have come together to help and pray for their well-being. It is remarkable to see the impact my parent's have had on others and how they have influenced them through their own work and gospel.
At the this time we are unaware of the medical expense and the overall cost for their care and treatment. Our father is still in the hospital recovering and once he is released will be going to a rehabilitation center. Our mother on the other hand, it is unknown how long her recovery will take. She is still due to receive multiple surgeries in the up coming days and some later in the year depending on how she continues to recover.
Due to the nature of the amount of vehicles involved in this tragic accident. It is unknown what kind of financial relief our parents will receive from the insurance company or the criminal case that has been opened against the other driver. In the mean time our goal is to aid our parents with their recovery so they can be together again.
