Lux's Medical Bills

Donation protected
We have a large amount of medical bills for our 3 year old American Bully who was our Christmas Reject puppy. We waited until after christmas 2013 to go out and find a puppy who wasn't lucky enough to have found a permenant home.

About five days ago she started oddly walking in circles and pacing. We took her to the local vet and they did some bloodwork but in less than 12 hours before the results had even come back, her condition had exponentially worsened. She could now do nothing besides walk in circles. She was falling over, walking into walls, and would turn into a pretzel when laying down unless we were holding her. We quickly brought her to Garden State Veterinary Hospital.

They had to admit her to the ICU, she needed an MRI and a spinal tap which both required anesthesia. She was also in the ICU for three days. The totals bills here ended up being over $5000. There was another $500 for the bloodwork from the original vet as well. We put these all on a credit card but it was more than we can realistically afford.  As it turns out she has severe swelling in her brain also known as encephalitis.

We went in to put an end to her suffing today as there had been no improvements, but when we got there for the first time in three days there were finally small signs of improvement. She is eating and drinking (if you hold her up and put it in front of her), she is looking at us, and she moves her ears when she hears sounds. These are not things she did when visiting her the last 2 days. Its not a good chance but she isn't in pain and the seizures stopped so we don't want to give up.

There is no immediate rush on getting the funds as the bills are now with our credit card company, but we need help paying for some of this. My wife is 8 months pregnant and we have a ton of baby expenses coming our way. I was also diagnosed with cancer earlier this year - I BEAT IT AND AM NOW CANCER FREE! - but we spent a ton on my own medical bills. One of the things that kept me going was that even on my worst days of chemo she was by my side.

We are financially beaten down right now but we could not turn our back on her. We have been talking for months about how shes going to be so good with our incoming baby and we do not want to accept a future where that changes. We made the decision to spend the money so even if nobody is able to help, we accept the consequences - but it would mean the world to us if you could help our growing family in a time of need.

Lux is one of the best dogs that a family could hope for. She is the living proof that pits can be the cuddliest, friendliest, most loyal dogs on the planet when given the chance. She is such a softie that not only does the cat beat her up, but the bird also beats her up. It is my lifelong goal to one day get the bird to ride the dog for the amusement of my child. I can only hope that all of the fighting we are doing and she is doing pays off in the end.

Thank you for reading, sharing, and donating if you can. It has been a truly challenging year but we will press on.
