Luv Fats ice cream new batch freezer fund

WHO WE ARE:

Luv Fats Ice Cream is a Black-owned family-run business based in Austin, TX. Luv Fats is owned by Chi Ndika who is the mastermind, architect, expert taste-tester, and creator of the locally beloved [dairy-free] ice cream. At just 25 years old, Chi turned curiosity into passion in search of creating a dairy-free alternative to ice cream that could maintain the creaminess and tastiness we all know and love. After much experimentation, Chi has honed the signature Luv Fats recipe that celebrates healthy fats using fresh avocados, coconut milk and cream, and lots and lots of luv. Luv Fats take pride in sourcing many local ingredients, flavors and scents to make unique and delicious dairy-free ice cream. 

What started as a birthday gift idea for her mom (who had acquired a sudden dairy allergy) has grown into a locally beloved full-fledged handmade ice cream business. Luv Fats got its humble start by participating in the Texas Farmers Market at Mueller. While incredibly demanding, this experience provided an unmatched opportunity to not only co-create a community with local vendors by collaborating, connecting, and co-promoting one another, but also reach hundreds of loyal customers over the years. Witnessing the growth of the Luv Fats community has made it possible to dream of expansion beyond weekly markets. As part of a larger goal, Luv Fats plans to begin selling ice cream at small, local grocery stores throughout the greater Austin area.

WHAT WE’RE RAISING FOR:

$8,000.00 - Small batch freezer to churn  

$2,000.00 - chest freezers, portable freezer, and go fund me fees

Luv Fats wants to continue to create and share our signature products with ice-cream lovers far and wide. To meet this goal, our biggest need boils down to acquiring equipment that will facilitate the process and expand our production capacity, including a large batch freezer and high-powered churning machine. These products would help make our dreams of expansion a reality as it would dramatically enhance our batch making efficiencies. While these machines could transform our business, entirely, the investment is steep and could range anywhere from $6,000-8,000. We want to continue sharing our luv of ice cream with our friends, family, and community. With your help, we hope to raise enough money to cover equipment expenses to streamline our production process and expansion.

Our goal is to purchase the large batch freezer by the end of this Summer and expand our wholesale accounts with local grocers by Fall. Owning these machines, along with new chest and portable freezers, would also allow us to sell more of our signature ice cream at additional farmers markets. Your generosity and contribution will be essential to bringing our business goals to fruition.
