Lung Transplant Post-Operative Care
Donation protected
Debbie finally got THE CALL and received her double lung transplant at the Stanford Health Care Hospital in Stanford, California. For at least the next 3 months, she's required to live close to the hospital to continue her post-operative care. We were told by Stanford months ago, when Debbie was initially placed on the transplant list, that housing was available that would run us about $150 day. No problem, we can handle that. Our insurance will contribute $100 per day so we only have to come up with about $4,500.
However, now that Debbie is about to be discharged, we're told that NO housing is available through Stanford and that we should try the local Marriotts or Hiltons. Arghhh! This is some of the highest priced real estate in the nation here on the peninsula between San Jose and San Francisco. The only thing we can find with any availability is a Marriott Residence Inn in Menlo Park that is going to run us $239 a night. So that just added another $8000 (on top of the $4,500) that we have to come up with.
So that's why we're here on GoFundMe. We're hoping you can help us make up this shortfall. Our medical costs are handled but so much of her post-operative care is out of pocket expenses that aren't covered by our medical insurance. Any and all contributions will contribute directly to Debbie's housing expenses and her post-operative care. Anything contributed in excess of our expenses will go to Stanford in hopes that it might help other transplant patients that find themselves told that the inn is full.
