Lung Transplant for Kim Gillingham

Donation protected
After several tests and scans yes I do have very bad lungs lol
Stage 4 Lung disease without a transplant I will die.
I have extensive destructive diffuse centrilobular Emphysema throughout plus Pulmonary Fibrosis......... wow no wonder I need help lol

To understand what I endure everyday just to breath normal well as close as possible. I take 3 different puffers one antibiotic and 24*7 of oxygen.  When things are good I still have so many issues doing what people take for granite like getting dressed, bathing, cleaning .....When I am ill with a cold it make it harder to get breaths, In pain coughing all the time and recently broke a rib which makes it so much harder.

I am only 51 and ready to live the second half of my life ....as how i live now ...is not living....can’t go out anywhere as I might catch a cold which has occurred several times in the past having so much pain in my lungs due to simple smell of Dawn dish soap, candles, perfume, soaps etc

I am on disability so I don’t have money to save for moving to Toronto which residences should be by hospital 2800 month plus 100 extra for parking.

I also have to be on about 20 different meds so the cost of that will be 400 - 4000 month but won’t know more until that time so have to give them a credit card to cover omg lol

Uncertain of times and dates as I will find out more after the results come back from the doctors which they get together to discuss in a month.  Once I receive the ok we will accept you into the lung transplant program I will move up to Toronto and wait on the list.

I have stage 4 Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease which  is a progressive chronic inflammatory lung disease that causes obstructed airflow from the lungs. I have end stage COPD - partially caused by smoking but  quit at age 34 also sanding a large boat and working with epoxy and fibreglass without wearing a mask, which really damaged my lungs. I used to scuba dive and could not go diving anymore, which I thought was my equipment failing, but it was me. That was when I was around 29 years old and I have now been living with this for over 20 years (don’t do the math - getting old).

I loved being active and doing things in life but have been unable to do the simplest tasks - even getting dressed is an event. I have been on oxygen for 6 months, which helps, but my lungs are sick and are unable to prevent bacterial infection as I am now on antibiotics full time. Last winter I almost died. I was sick for 6 months straight with  pneumonia and one infection after another.  I previously worked at a disabilities office for 9 years and was laid off due to government cutbacks but was ready to go as I was having lung issues from interacting with people wearing different products and air quality and going out in cold or humid weather.

I am financially strapped. I have been attempting to make money by producing handcrafted Merino wool scarves, however have ended up spending more than I earned. We make just enough money just to cover bills. This year has not been good for the house either as we had huge flood in our basement, which was not covered by insurance and still has no insulation or flooring.

I am going to Toronto for a lung transplant next year, which I just finished the testing for and am physically good to go.  I get to go meet the team of physicians in Toronto, and have to live by the hospital as I need to go every day before and after the operation. , I can not stay with anyone else as various scents and cleaner make me very sick, I currently live in Nova Scotia and have to have somebody with me the whole time. This is very costly but God willing, it will be a miracle for me. I want to swim, to walk, to just be able to do anything active would be awesome.

I came up with the goal of $30 000 after learning the out of pocket expense from another woman who had the procedure. Any help would be wonderful and very appreciated. If you don’t want to donate here, please buy a scarve or painting from my website: www.curlywoolies.com.

God bless and thank you for taking the time to read and donate!
