Lukas WILL walk!!!

Donation protected
Hey y'all,

As many of our friends and family already know our son Lukas has Myelomeningocele Spina Bifida and a whole list of medical issues associated with it. Lukas just came through the door after his clubbed foot surgery, which was a complete success! This was his 9th surgery in his sweet four years of life. Two weeks of this cast, four weeks with a hard cast, a tenth surgery to remove the pins, six-eight more weeks of casting, getting fitted for braces and a reverse walker, then a regular walker, and eventually crutches. This is going to take a lot of time but it will be beyond exciting when he takes his first steps at 5 or 6 years old!!!!

Traveling to drop Liam off prior to Lukas’ surgery the timing belt snapped and the engine was totaled in our car. Was trapped in Kalamazoo for three days and had to bus home. Two days later my phone fried for absolutely no reason while we were bouncing between the 20 dr appts he had pre-op.

While we frequently struggle with the hardships we face, we overcome the vast majority alone. But we aren’t too prideful to ask for help when we know we need it. We are in pretty dire straits and have many dr appts coming up. Not having a car is a nightmare even though public transport is available, sort of dicey with COVID and etc.

We work very hard with Lukas and Liam, and having two disabled children is incredibly difficult. There is no one that hasn’t been significantly affected by 2020, but my unemployment STILL hasn’t come through, and Matt’s was denied because he was physically laid up from his own ankle surgery and ineligible. This fundraiser is to simply help ease the burden we’re bearing right now, and to hopefully purchase a vehicle which makes everything a lot easier in regards to dr appts and life in general.

Lukas needs to be watched and remain almost completely immobilized for the next two weeks or he could mess up his surgery, which is obviously our main concern. He is a little monkey so this will likely be a very difficult task.

The costs are extremely financially taxing. I know literally everyone is struggling right now. But if you happen to be struggling less and are able to help in any possible way, we would appreciate it from the absolute bottom of our hearts. Any help or shares would be absolutely wonderful.

Thank you, and I hope everyone is making it through 2020 as best they can! ❤️❤️
