My name is Daniel Martinez. I'm the oldest of 3 followed by Fernando and Sean. This is our father Luis Martinez- an honest to God real-life Clark Griswold- humble hard-working blue collar man with a heart of gold just trying to provide for his family and always willing to help others.
Recently over the holidays, Dad was fighting COVID. Although there was hope his condition would improve, things did not work out as we were hoping and praying. On 12/29/2020 Luis Martinez lost his battle with COVID and passed in one of the most beautiful ways i could ever hope to imagine or choose for myself or anyone else. He was a man of tremendous faith and endless love for family.
Dad never questioned the hand he was dealt, which as a result meant he always worked harder, and remained always thankful despite the trials, tribulations, and bad luck that he at times, like all of us, face in life. Dad never complained about or questioned the negatives that life presented and always tried to make the best of whatever situation he was facing.
There are so many things to say and still do to honor him, but I need your help. WE need your help. Dad wasn't expecting his life/story to end like this, he still had so much planned to live for and do, therefore he didn't really look as far forward to his eventual end or fathom that he would be leaving us all so soon. As most of you know, final arrangements are usually costly and can add up quite fast. Nothing has been normal or ordinary during these pandemic times we are living through, so you can imagine that trying to arrange these final accommodations has been slightly harder and stressful than during more normal times pre-covid.
The plan is with 2 goals in mind: to raise enough to cover expenses for Dad's immediate final arrangements and to eventually arrange a proper get together so we can mourn together and celebrate Dad's life and blessings sometime in the future with many relatives, family members, friends, and loved ones once these pandemic circumstances aren't so restricting. Any help is a blessing, every little bit helps. Id like to thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Dad we love you and will miss you greatly. Again; from his beloved mother Maria his siblings Tato, Eddie, and Zenaida; my brothers Fernando and Sean, my stepmom Cathy and all the members of the Martinez/Mendez families and extended family, we humbly and gratefully thank you.
