Lucy Hawkins has had the acting bug forever. She attanded classes at the National Theatre St Kilda, Melbourne when she was 15, excelled in drama classes at Shelford Girls Grammar School and was awarded drama captain in year 12. Since then she attanded Monash University graduating with a Bachelor of Performing Arts and has acted in a multitude of short films, the most notable being 'The Suburbs go on Forever' which won Best Student Film NYLA International Film Festival 2016.
Lucy has secured a place MA Acting for Screen at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, University of London, but without your help she cannot attend. She works hard at two jobs, one at MagNation making coffees and selling magazines, the other in the evenings as waitstaff, Members Room, The Arts Centre, Melbourne.
The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama was founded in 1906 by theatre academic and speach therapist Elsie Fogarty. It is one of the top 5 Drama schools in the world and boasts an alumni such as Dame Judi Dench, Lord Laurence Olivier, Harold Pinter CBE and more recently Kit Harrington (of HBO's 'Game of Thrones') and Andrew Garfield (of 'The Amazing Spiderman'; 'The Social Network')
Lucy had a point 9 percent chance of getting into this course and after an audition in Sydney, several call backs and a skype interview, she did it! Her family are so very proud of her.
The fees alone are $34,000 AUD and her living expenses for the 42 week course in London will be difficult to achieve. Lucy needs to pay $2,000AUD by the end of this June to secure her place. The course begins October 2016 so we don't have a lot of time.
Lucy's immediate response to this fabulous news was understandably total elation. Then the reality of the situation sank in. How was she going to fund such a marvelous opportunity? She needs your help.
