Lucy Lorenzo (Acevedo) Cancer Journey
Donation protected
My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer on April 1, 2020. She is the core of our family so although we were all very shaken up, especially with COVID-19 on the rise, she immediately began her treatment plan. She went through a series of surgeries and chemo rounds which we then believed to be the end of this nightmare. Little did we know that at that point the cancer was spreading. At the end of November 2021, my mother began to experience pain, a very bad cough, shortness of breath and started to grow two lumps on her head. We immediately took her back to the doctor and found out that her cancer had metastasized and spread to her bones, and lungs along with lesions on her scalp. Her cancer has now gone from stage 1A to stage 4 in just 1 year. She is going to begin chemo treatments immediately and will unfortunately not be able to work until further notice due to her being so immunocompromised and her symptoms. I have had to leave my job to be able to attend her appointments and soon tend to her during treatment. With Covid spiking again, my mother and I are isolated as per the oncologists instructions. My mother is the strongest woman I have ever known so seeing her in pain and struggle to do simple things like take a shower, is very heart wrenching. She is a single mother and head of our household so any donations to help alleviate the financial burden we are facing is very much appreciated.
