Lucid's Global Campaign for WIRES

As you are all aware, Australia is experiencing some of its worst bushfires in history and summer has only just begun there! More than 8 million hectares have been affected, at least 24 people are dead (among them several volunteer firefighters), and 1.25 billion animals have been killed directly or indirectly as a result of this crisis. It is estimated that up 30% of the koalas (8,400 of them) have perished in addition to the fact that their population is already in decline.
Why should we as Lucid care? Well first of all, we have our very own office in Sydney, New South Wales which is the worst affected area in Australia. We are now a part of Australia and our presence there comes with the responsibility to show solidarity with our community. Secondly, Australia is home to some of the largest biodiversity in the world. Its destruction has devastating consequences for our nature and planet. The fires are also starting to impact the broader APAC region. In some parts in New Zealand for example, which is approx. a 4-hour (!) flight away across the Tasman Sea, the air quality is worsening, glaciers are turning pink, and the sky has taken on an orange colour due to the smoke.
Every penny will go to WIRES, a native wildlife organisation in New South Wales which is gathering resources for emergency help.
