Lucas’s cancer treatment

Lucas is a young and energetic 27 year old young man diagnosed with glioma (brain cancer) that originated in his brain stem.

We are asking for financial assistance to help Lucas and Nicole through a few difficult months. Although Lucas will be going through the public healthcare system, there will be out of pocket expenses and extra bills to pay. With loss of income with Lucas not being able to work due to intense radiation and chemo therapy.

Because of its sensitive location, it can't be surgically removed, so the recommended treatment is a 6-week radiation therapy plan starting May 5th involving oral chemotherapy and radiation. Though the riskiest part of the process (the biopsy) is over, there is still an increased risk of having seizures.

Lucas started his one year teaching degree this year but had to defer his studies to become a teacher as treatment is going to be intense.

He also started a new career as an Education Assistant in a high school. Booking time off is not ideal as he loves his new role and working with young adults.

"God has blessed me with 27 wonderful years of life and yes it would be tragic if things ended here- I was objectively a cute kid, and I may never find out if my kids would be the same, I’ve never been able to do international missions with Nicole yet, and who knows if I’ll ever get to publish my board game.

But I want to share that I've been feeling remarkably well - mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. God has gifted me His peace and a hunger for Him more than ever before. I believe God has already been preparing me for this journey to such an extent that it's an answer to prayer to have an opportunity to practically live out my faith and trust God.
