Lucas Retina Surgery
Donation protected
In 2022 we found out that Lucas had a cataract in his left eye. Due to him being 8, the doctors were convinced that it was due to a traumatic event. We removed the cataract in his left eye!
Fast forward to April 2023, we noticed Lucas right eye changing. We got in to see a doctor today. Lucas has a fully detached retina, and a full cataract. He was also diagnosed with Stickler syndrome. Lucas has a long road ahead of him with lots of surgeries, but this surgery on Monday is the first step to regaining his eye site (hopefully).
There are 15 people in the world that will operate on a kid Lucas age to reattach the retina. Luckily we have two in Houston, however they are not accepted by our insurance.
Due to the severity of the surgery, and the timing of the surgery- I am unsure if insurance will accept our claim to help Lucas.
