Lucas Costa's Healing Fund

Our beloved Lucas Costa had an accident last week on Thursday June 15.
He was riding his skate board through the San Francisco mission and collided with a bus.
He was rushed to the ICU and diagnosed with
Left front fracture
Bilateral subdural hematoma
Scattered subh Oragnoid
Probably brain contusion
These injuries are all superficial to the brain and considered moderate.
The first night was scary but lucas is a strong spirit with a healthy body and on Friday morning they took him off the breathing machine and sedatives and he was able to wake up.
Roxanne (lucas's fianse) and many other close friends have been with him the whole time as he recovers from this traumatic incident.
He and Roxy are out of the ICU and staying in the hospital now. Lucas has been determined to get out of the hospital since the moment he opened his eyes. He is working with a physical therapist, speech therapies and occupational therapist as well as the neuro surgery team all of which are very happy with the pace of progress he's making.
It's a miracle he doesn't have any other injuries and looking at him you wouldn't even know he was in an accident. All the trauma is under the skin in his head but it is healing well :)
Now it's just a matter of patience and persistence as the blood and bruising in his head disperses and the pain alleviates and symptoms remedy.
The most important thing moving forward is that his stimulation be minimal and his environments be peaceful. Also it is critical that all precautions are taken for him to not injure himself again. Another head injury must be avoided and since lucas is a hard physical worker mostly in construction or farm environments it has been recommended he take at least 6 weeks off to rest and recover.
This time off of work means loss of income for him and though he has been approve for some financial medical aid there is no saying what types of bills can be expected after a week at San Francisco General.
Any contributions that can be made to support lucas at this vulnerable time will go towards supporting him while he heals. Thank you
With Love and Gratitude,
Friends & Family of Lucas
