Ally Bruener is an up and coming comedian based out of Northern Kentucky.

At the age of 26, Ally has experienced all the ups and downs life has to offer. She was diagnosed with Congenital Muscular Dystrophy (CMD) as a toddler and fully bound to a wheelchair by the age of seven. Between being the Junior Goodwill Ambassador (aka “poster child”) for the MDA for numerous years and finding her voice as a self-advocate at a young age, Ally knew her rightful place in this world was in front of a crowd.

In September 2010, Ally took her first roll into the world of Stand Up Comedy when she signed up for a five week course with the Underground Comedy School. After performing her graduation set on the main stage at Comedy Caravan, Ally received such a warm welcome from comedians and audience members, alike, that she knew she had found her new home: the comedy stage.

Now, a few years later, Ally has had the opportunity to perform across the Midwest and even New York, and has emceed for headliners such as Dale Jones, Spanky Brown, Ryan Singer, and Steve Trevino. In 2013, she was named Louisville’s Funniest Comedienne, was a finalist in the Funniest Person in Cincinnati Contest, and winner of Dayton Funny Bone’s annual Titans of the Clash. In 2014, she was a finalist in The Devil Cup in New York City.

This unabashed college dropout breaks the limits of political correctness with self-deprecating cripple jokes and darkly observational humor while still stealing the hearts of a shocked audience. Her sweet and innocent demeanor is the ultimate misdirection.

Being an aspiring "stand up" comedian, transportation is among one of the more important necessities in her life. Having reliable transportation, not only to get her ass to her comedy gigs but also to and from the doctor, is extremely important. Her current ride, nicknamed "The Beast", is a 1994 Ford EconoLine, 15 passenger, wheel chair accessible beast of a van that requires weekly, if not daily, maintenance from her father, Ron, to keep it running. This is where Kentucky Chive and the Chive Nation comes in. Our goal for 2015 is to raise enough money for Ally to acquire a reliable handicapped accessible vehicle.
