In Loving Memory of Demétrio Campos

Demétrio Campos is a 26 year old brazilian artist; a big man, poet, dancer, actor, model and ancestor to all of us, transmasculine people. Yet, this world isn't much of a welcoming place to many of us. Brazil is the most violent country for trans and black individuals. For all of that, Deme dealt for years with depression and on 05/17/2020 at the age of 23, he went on a bigger travel.

Since then, Ivoni, who is his mom and also a mom to all of us, went to the front in defense of our rights, and the local conservative groups are, in many ways, punishing her and her family for it. Demetrio's family comes suffering many forms of rejection at their city on Rio de Janeiro - Brazil and they still live at the same house where Demétrio was suicided, daily dealing with suffering memories which could, by now, not be too vivid if they'd move on to a new home.

When Demétrio parted, his family returned his body to the Quilombo where lives much of his ancestors. There, to open up space, one's mortal remains needs to be withdrawn after 3 years being buried, and as 05/17/23 completes 3 years since Deme passed away, it is time.

Before leaving, Deme wrote his last wishes on his diary: to have his ashes spread by places he loves, Prainha and São João. Now, we're here to ask y'all contributions to fulfill his wishes, allowing his and his family's noble journey to continue.

The funds raised will all be covering Demetrio's cremation and his family's moving fees.
