Love’s Hug

Love’s Hug is a participative art piece that will be installed at Burning Man 2019.  First time Burner Anna Mok had an inspiring experience at Burning Man 2018 and decided to return with a participative art installation to share with the rest of the community.  Although not a trained artist, Anna’s first burn unlocked her imagination and creativity providing the inspiration for Love’s Hug.



Love’s Hug is designed to be a fun and communal installation providing a restful and reflective space amidst all the chaos that exists on the Playa. It is an inviting, lighted, red and fuchsia heart shaped conversation space where Burners can share, snuggle, cuddle, lie sit, and ....

while being protected from the desert winds. Sensual red and warm LEDs provide visibility and make the piece inviting at night. All the design elements are intended to invoke memories and moments of deep human love and happiness as well as contemplation of what love means.



Our Love’s Hug crew of volunteers is comprised of enthusiastic veteran and newbie Burners.  With the exception of our lead engineer, Love’s Hug is the first Burning Man art installation the crew members have been involved with.   The team has been hard at work and we are on schedule to complete Love’s Hug to share with you!


We welcome participation from other community members interested in helping us bring Love’s Hug to life on the Playa and realize Anna’s vision. All of the labor to design and construction of Love’s Hug has been donated by volunteers. We could use assistance with the cost of construction materials, electronics and transportation (approximately $3,000). We would appreciate any financial help you can provide to us to help cover these costs. As important (well, probably more important) is our desire to build community and connect with other Burners through Love’s Hug.
