We are honored to support Lucy in her fight against cancer. Lucy has worked as a cook at Mama Roses and bused tables at Poppy’s for the past seven and a half years. This past June, Lucy was diagnosed with breast cancer that has metastasized to her bones. She underwent neoadjuvant chemotherapy, and most recently, a bilateral mastectomy. She will continue her treatment for at least the next year.
Lucy left three adult daughters in Mexico to come join one of her sisters here in Estes Park. She was in search for a better life in America. This is a story like many have, and a strong reminder of how important our health is. But, most importantly, it is a story of how we can come together to help someone in need. Though we don’t know Lucy personally, we can only imagine all of the hardship she and her family are enduring. At least once, we have all been through hard times and we all suffer one way or another. We are still here, and greatly ready to help in any way we can. We want to bring Lucy and her family hope in the midst of this battle. By helping one, we help all of the community to get stronger.
Personally, I remember all of the struggles we had before our children were born, and had it not been for the support system from strangers, non-profits, and the community, we wouldn’t have achieved our goals. We know firsthand how vital it is for families to have support during hard times.

Nos sentimos honrados de apoyar a Lucy en su lucha contra el cáncer. Lucy ha trabajado como cocinera en Mama Roses y bused mesas en Poppy's durante los últimos siete años y medio. En junio pasado, a Lucy le diagnosticaron cáncer de mama que le causó metástasis en los huesos. Se sometió a quimioterapia neoadyuvante y, más recientemente, a una mastectomía bilateral. Ella continuará su tratamiento por lo menos el próximo año.
Lucy dejó tres hijas adultas en México para unirse a una de sus hermanas aquí en Estes Park. Ella estaba en busca de una vida mejor en América. Esta es una historia como la que muchos tienen, y un fuerte recordatorio de cuán importante es nuestra salud. Pero, lo más importante, es una historia de cómo podemos unirnos para ayudar a alguien que lo necesita. Aunque no conocemos a Lucy personalmente, solo podemos imaginar todas las dificultades que ella y su familia soportan. Al menos una vez, todos pasamos por tiempos difíciles y todos sufrimos de una manera u otra. Todavía estamos aquí, y estamos listos para ayudar de cualquier manera que podamos. Queremos llevar a Lucy y su familia a la esperanza en medio de esta batalla. Al ayudar a uno, ayudamos a toda la comunidad a fortalecerse.
Personalmente, recuerdo todas las luchas que tuvimos antes de que nacieran nuestros hijos, y de no haber sido por el sistema de apoyo de extraños, organizaciones sin fines de lucro y la comunidad, no hubiéramos logrado nuestros objetivos.
