Rebekah's Peru Mission's Trip

A couple months ago, I was blessed with an amazing opportunity, when the worship pastor of my church, Grace Church of Eden Prairie, invited me on the Peru trip that the church takes together every few years. “Pray! Give! And Go!” That is what we are all about at Grace Church. I didn’t think seriously about it at the time. But as life unfolded, I began to think and pray about it more and more until there was not a doubt in my mind that God wanted me to go on this trip. From July 21st-31st, 2017, our church will be serving “hombre a hombre,” which means, “shoulder to shoulder” with our sister in church in the chief seaport of Callao, Peru. Many Peruvians have a religious affiliation but most have a distorted view of Christ and the Gospel. We are so excited to share the love and Gospel of Jesus Christ in Callao and the surrounding communities with creative outreach, evangelism, community service, medicine, compassion and sports. Grace Church has faithfully supported and served this church since 1989, when it had its inception. Since then the church has grown from 36 members to over 2500 attendees and 7 daughter churches. They minister to broken and struggling families in the area and are highly committed to building leaders, evangelism, and discipleship. We look forward to joining this fruitful ministry and grow in faith as we serve with a towel and basin.
On this trip, I am thrilled to be serving specifically on the creative arts team doing skits, dances, singing, dramas and whatever else our leaders envision for us. I look forward to how God wants to use me, and the things He will teach me. I pray He will give me a supple heart to hear his voice, respond and use what He is teaching me to bring others to Himself. My hope and prayer is that the impact of our team will see miracles: hearts being changed, people being healed, and a great strengthening of the national church.
I am inviting you to prayerfully consider partnering with me and share in the eternal fruit of this endeavor. As always, there are two ways in which you can do this: prayer and finances.
There are nearly 100 people going on this trip and it is no small task to organize such a trip. Please pray that God will give our team leaders grace and wisdom in their preparation. Pray that God will give us unity and favor as we interact with people of a different culture and language. And also, please pray that God will provide for and meet all of the financial and logistical needs for my team and me. I will be organizing a prayer support team and would be so grateful if you would commit to praying for our team and me. As our mission’s Pastor Dave Gibson says, “No prayer equals no power. I am also, extending an invitation for your financial support, and ask you to prayerfully consider giving as the Lord leads. ANY amount great or small, will have a significant impact on what God is calling us to do, as we build His Kingdom. The total cost of my trip is $2,950. I have a deadline to meet this goal by June 28th.

I am so excited to see what God is going to do on this trip. He is so much bigger than finances, language barriers, and all the little things that get in the way and take us away from Him. We are here for a short time to build the Kingdom of Heaven. Songwriter Kari Jobe sums it up well, “It is not fame that I desire, nor stature in my brother’s eye. I pray it’s said about my life, that I lived more to build your name than mine!”
“But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.” ~ 2 Corinthians 4:7
