Love on Lauren

Dear Friends and Family,

Our family (The Sullivan's) has had the privilege to take into our home and care for a 19 year old young lady, Lauren Cleghorn. If you have ever met Lauren, you know that she is a bundle of joy, seeking to share Jesus with whoever she meets, has a passion for children and adults with special needs, and has a generous heart to serve and give in whatever way she can.

Lauren came to stay with us in late October 2017 because of health issues she had been experiencing since the summertime. These health issues had increased in severity and by October included episodes of passing out or syncope and had resulted in her being designated a fall risk and necessitated that she get around using a wheelchair. These presenting symptoms evolved into continued passing out episodes accompanied by some type of seizure and at times some memory loss. As a result of these health issues Lauren has not been able to maintain her employment, while at the same time incurring medical bills.
Because Lauren is not able to maintain regular employment, there is a need to raise funds to help Lauren pay for her care.

THE BACKSTORY
Between late August 2017 and late October 2017, Lauren had been to the ER a number of times and spent time in the hospital on 2 occasions (once for 7 days and another time for 9 days). She had seen a number of specialists, including a neurologist and cardiologist, however she was not experiencing any improvement in her symptoms.

On the night that she arrived to stay with us she was passed out off and on for a few hours, accompanied by episodes of convulsing. Despite another trip to the ER that night she was sent home being told there was nothing they could do to help. The next few weeks followed with Lauren seeing a couple more specialists, including an Autonomic Nervous Specialist, ENT Specialist and Neurologist again. None were able to give a conclusive diagnosis and in fact could not agree on whether she was in fact experiencing seizures or not.

After a very difficult weekend in early December, which included yet another trip to the ER and a transfer to the hospital for the weekend, the doctors were not any closer to answers for what was going on with her body or how to treat her.

HOPE RENEWED
We are so thankful that beginning in early December she began her care with Dr. Kendal Stewart, NeuroSensory Center of America. Under his protocol she has seen great improvement for periods of time but still experiences setbacks about once a month for several days. Dr. Stewart does not take insurance and his regimen is more of a holistic natural approach so the majority of the supplements and minimal prescriptions Lauren is taking daily are not covered by insurance either.

THE NEED
Funds are needed to help Lauren pay for her doctor’s visits with Dr. Stewart and the expenses incurred with the protocol he has prescribed.

The funds raised will go specifically to pay for the doctor visits and supplements/medications that Lauren needs on a daily basis to bring healing to her body and restore her to being free from passing out and seizing so that she may return to normal daily living.
General Breakdown of Costs:
-bi-monthly visits to Dr. Stewart ($2500-$3000)
-supplements and prescriptions ($3500-$4000)
-miscellaneous additional medical ($1000)

Many thanks!
