Love for Zak Colbert (AKA: Papa) & Family

If Bass is the bacon of music, then Papa is the bacon of life.

Long time staple of the Kingston music scene, Zak Colbert, is no stranger to enthusiastic Canadian audiences.  He's performed and been a featured member of many local and touring acts.
Whether onstage or off, Papa brings the BEST energy to everyone around him.  He is supportive, kind, wise, funny, clever and a very, very good time.
Papa is also one of the best, if not the best, musician in the Kingston region.  His reputation and lovely demeanour has made him one of the most loved and respected musicians around.  

Papa has a family that loves him, dozens of musical colleagues that love him and a community that loves him.  Perhaps Papa played your charity function?  Perhaps watching him perform made you appreciate live music a little more?  If you have another favourite bass player in town, it's quite likely Papa trained them.
His talent and loveliness on and off the stage make Papa Zak one of the greatest humans I've personally ever met.

This is the tough part, friends.  Our beloved Zak has been diagnosed with terminal bone cancer.  He is very ill and he needs our help.

There are still many unanswered questions at this point for Zak and his family and friends that love him so much. This Go Fund Me account has been set up to financially help Zak in any way it can as he and his family navigate the coming weeks and beyond.

Perhaps, like me, you feel as if this news couldn't be more heartbreaking.  I'm devastated by this news as many of you are too.

I will update this page as we have more info.  I ask that you respect the privacy of Zak and his family as I am sure we will hear from them when the time is right.
