For the Love of Patrick & Susie Koether

Patrick and Susie Koether are two of our favorite people and if you don't know their Culver love story, it is one for the books. But now, they need our help.
As you may know, Patrick Koether has been living with Advanced Stage Melanoma for the past five years. The first four and a half of those years, his cancer existed quietly in the background of their lives. PK was closely monitored and he enthusiastically pursued available courses of treatment and when complications would pop up, he’d face those challenges bravely, eagerly doing his own part to keep enjoying the life they've built together in Boise. This past October, Susie and Patrick learned that the cancer had spread. PK had to suspend his motorsports career with Rekluse and Susie took leave from her work to provide his full-time care. Together, they have thrown everything they’ve got at beating this but even their determination, love, and positivity may not be enough to win the day. After an escalating series of setbacks, each of which he faced without an ounce of weakness or doubt, Patrick is back in the hospital and facing some tough odds.
Two weeks ago, in celebration of their anniversary, Susie posted this message to Patrick on Facebook:
"Eight years ago today, we had no idea how the universe would challenge us. But we did know we loved each other the moment my arm brushed yours on the drive from Culver to the airport in Indy. We knew we had loving and supportive families. We knew we had amazing friends and life opportunities. And we knew we were meant to be together forever. You are my reason to get up in the morning and my everything at the end of the day. There is no other soul that should be paired with mine, the way yours is paired with me now. May our love always shine bright even in this very dark time. I love you dearly and deeply and always as I know you love me, too."
It’s easy to celebrate the love of two people who share their joy so willingly and celebrating that love is the reason for this campaign. Susie and PK are connectors and community builders. They invite and include all of us in their friendship and enthusiasm for life. That’s why it’s a pleasure to stand up for them in this challenging time.
Given what they’ve faced in the last year, financial support would help enormously but this is more than a fundraiser. We want to provide a place for everyone to post pictures, share stories and memories, and show your love so they can receive it together.
