Salote Iketau is a loving wife and mother of 7 children. Throughout her life, she always made her faith and family a priority. The proudest calling that she has ever fulfilled and will continue to fulfill, is that of a wife and mother. You can always find her supporting her kids at sporting events, church functions, and school talent shows, while continuing to fulfill her duties as a wife at home i.e doing laundry, washing dishes, cooking dinner, etc.- she is the definition of Wonder Woman.
In April of 2011, Salote started feeling sick, to the point where she lost almost 40 pounds in less than 4 weeks. There were constant visits to the doctor, with no resolution other than providing anti-biotics. It wasn’t until the fateful night, where she suffered a stroke, that we found out the heartbreaking news; lung cancer. Our mom was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer and only given 6 months to live. This is where our Miracle of a mother came in and proved to everyone that with faith, we can move mountains.
She defeated all odds and soon regained her strength. It wasn’t until 3 years later that we found ourselves in the same situation; a second stroke. Only this time, they found that a tumor began to develop in her brain, thus making recovery almost impossible. Yet again, she persevered.
since then, she’s been able to fulfill her promise of being there for all the important events in her family’s life- missionary send offs, graduations, school dances, sporting events, and weddings.
This year, on July 4th, our mom suffered a severe stroke- one that’s proven to be the most challenging yet. With long stays in the ICU and continued 24/7 rehabilitation, medical bills continue to grow and, unfortunately, insurance only covers so much.
Now more than ever, Salote needs all the financial support she can get as she battles to overcome this obstacle, yet again. Financial support, in any amount, is a blessing to her and her family! If nothing else, your well wishes and prayers are greatly appreciated.
