If you say the name Carrie Mckinnon-Rasmussen faces will smile and stories will be shared. Carrie is such a caring person with a heart of gold. Carrie would never ask for help but she is often first in line to help others.
Many of us were saddened when we heard Carrie had been diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016. Carrie began her cancer journey with several biopsies and lymph node removals. During her five months of chemotherapy and her four weeks of daily radiation Carrie kept her spirits high. A true motivator to many of us with lesser troubles. In hopes to prevent taking this journey again Carrie chose to have both breasts removed and a double reconstruction in 2017.
Just as Carrie was looking forward to returning to work, the doctors found a spot on the back of her shoulder which turned out to be melanoma. Still determined to not let this news bring her down, Carrie had the melanoma removed. This procedure has led to her latest hurdle. Because her arm had no lymph nodes the restrictions have caused swelling to set into her entire arm.
Carrie is now looking at occupational therapy twice a week and has been told a Biocompression machine with a sleeve/chest compression vest would be most beneficial for daily at home use.
Friends and family, I am challenging you all to remind Carrie just how much she means to each of us with a donation to help her with her medical costs. The Biocompression machine alone costs $6,000.
