Support fallen Officer Andrew Lawrence’s family
My name is Connie Janssens. I am here with permission from my sister, Carrie Lawrence, to ask for help for her family. On January 31, 2021, my brother in law, Andrew "Andy" Lawrence, was taken from this earth unexpectedly. He had just celebrated his 40th birthday this year.
Andy's life long dream was to become a police officer. He achieved this dream 8 and a 1/2 years ago after graduating from the Kansas City Police Department. Living out this dream meant everything to him. He was an energetic, fun loving guy who never met a stranger. He had a passion for serving and protecting the community, as well as being a devoted husband and father of 2 small children. His death came as an utter shock to all his family and many many friends and fellow officers.
Andy was truly a brother to me from day one when my sister introduced us. There were too many occasions to count that I called him when I needed help, whether it was moving a million times or fixing my old car over and over again or just inviting me to hang out with my sister and him. I want to make sure my sister is taken care of, as well as my niece Kaitlyn, 7 years old and my nephew Adam 6 years old. Kaitlyn is in second grade and was recently diagnosed with autism. She will need services now and into the future. Both children will need continued counseling to help them address and process the loss of their daddy that won’t be coming home.
With the funeral and memorial behind her, the reality of Andy not coming home is setting in. My sister lost her best friend, her husband, her everything in the blink of an eye. She sees that she will be alone raising these two babies with a heavy and broken heart. She will be emotionally and financially drained. As many people know, funerals are expensive and so is raising two children. I'm trying to help assist my sister with relieving the burden of the unexpected expenses (funeral, education costs, counseling services, loss of income that Andy would have otherwise provided, etc.), so my sister can focus on healing and taking care of Kaitlyn and Adam.
