Lothlorien TRC: Help Our Horses!

Lothlorien needs your help!
Our concern for the health and safety of our clients, volunteers, and instructors is more important than having lessons right now. To keep everyone safe, we have postponed the 2020 season until further notice, but our amazing program horses still need to be fed and cared for.  In this unprecedented time, we humbly turn to you to ask for donations to help.

Lothlorien is a 37 year old therapeutic riding facility, serving ages 4 and up.  We serve over 500 participants every year, including special needs riders of all ability levels, Veterans, the Hospice community, Buffalo Boys & Girls and countless others.

Lothlorien’s horses are vital to our program and they bring out the best in our riders.  Just a few examples of their amazing work:  Stoney has a rider that has been coming to Lothlorien for 30 years!  He comes two times a week and he always asks Stoney for a kiss after his lessons.  Stoney always obliges. Gimli has a rider that always asks to ride him because he makes him giggle when he trots. His mom credits Gimli with helping her son improve socially and emotionally at home and school.  Trigger is slow and careful and makes his rider feel secure while they work on their fine and gross motor skills.  He has a rider that leans over to smell his mane while she rides. Julia is excellent at making an emotional connection with all of her riders. Mac makes his riders laugh when he flaps his lips. Owen is big and steady and he helps his riders work on their core strength and posture.  The amazing stories go on for days…. our horses open their hearts to our riders and make a huge impact!

Typically, this is the time of year we are getting ready to start our season, which includes securing session deposits and payments. The payment of these session fees goes directly to daily program operations, horse care, feed and supplies such as grain, hay, supplements, medication, bedding for stalls, equipment and more.

The repercussions from the issues surrounding COVID-19 have put the day to day care of our horses in jeopardy.  In these uncertain times, we know everyone is struggling, but the certainty of care for these incredible equine partners stays constant.

At this time, we have adequate funding and supplies on hand, but with future program funding uncertain, we foresee funds dwindling very quickly. This vulnerability is why we are asking for donations from our generous community.  Any amount helps:  $10 buys salt blocks, $20 buys a bag of grain, $100 can go towards bedding, supplements or medications and the list goes on!

Your donation would go directly to the daily feed and care of our horses. You can choose to donate to your favorite horse or to the whole herd.  They are happy and healthy and we need your help to keep them that way and provide them with the best care.

Check or credit card accepted.  Donations can be made payable by check to Lothlorien TRC and mailed to: 15 Reiter Road, East Aurora, NY 14052
