Lost everything in Lyons, Oregon FIRE STORM
Donation protected
Jodi and Roy Blackburn were preparing for evacuation from the Beachie Creek Fire on September 8, 2020 when strong winds picked up and caused them to immediately jump in their vehicles and flee. Their animals were left behind.
In a hotel, agonizing over the fate or their beloved pets, Roy's truck was stolen from the parking lot during the night. Due to Jodi's quick action on social media the truck was recovered the next day but the contents - Roy's work tools plus house possessions - were missing.
An official threatened Jodi with a fine when she returned to her property to find her animals. The horse pasture was spared the fire and the dogs bravely dug holes under the foundation to escape the flames. Sadly, two pets perished.
They had just paid off their dream home after 20 years of investing their own labor and skills in improvements.
They are currently living in a trailer loaned to them by a family member. While both are continuing to work, sadly they were underinsured for the losses incurred.
Because they are reluctant to accept help from others, my wife Joanne and I are reaching out to help lift this couple during this long and arduous recovery. She has been our daughter's best friend for over 35 years.
Thank you for any amount you are able to donate. Funds will be used to rebuild their barn where they plan to live and house their animals while rebuilding their home.
Hugs,
Bill and Joanne Rosamond
