Los Gozosos, Guatemala - Where Disabled Kids Find a Family -
#specialneeds, #disabled, #orphans, #losgozosos

Los Gozosos has been loving disabled kids in Chimaltenango, Guatemala, since April 2003. We house 26 disabled orphans or children with parents who cannot care for their special needs in our orphanage. Plus an additional 8 special needs students in our school.  We serve a total of 34 Special Needs kids every day  giving them all the love and joy we can to help them reach their full potential.

Sergio, Marisol and all the family are praying for this GoFundMe Campaign to be a great success.  All our workers were fasting, we finished worship and prayer when Marisol spoke up and she just would not let us go until she prayed for this page.  She cannot speak Spanish clearly but she communicates with her voice and gestures.  We know God hears her heart and understands her language.

We have lived by the grace of God for over 16 years from miracle to miracle of His provision.  This is the first time we have ever tried to raise a significant part of our annual budget but  we would like to be able to plan ahead in 2020.

Our Lord Jesus Christ has never failed us.  We have never missed a meal or even had to change the menu in over 16 years.  We own our property in Chimaltenango, Guatemala.  Our God delights in showing us what He can do without money.  He is so very good to us, a very present help in our everyday lives.  He answers our prayers and the cry of our hearts.

II Chronicles says, "For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth to show Himself strong in behalf of those whose hearts are blameless toward Him."  We believe He will speak to your heart and show us how strong and mighty He is to provide all our needs for 2020.

Los Gozosos, Chimaltenango, serves 26 special needs children in our orphanage.  Our Special Ed school serves 20 of them plus eight additional students from the community.  That's 34 Special Needs kids receiving all the love and affection we can give them.

Our goal of $200.000 is for basic general operating costs:

Personnel
We also have different shifts of nannies, laundry and cleaning staff, cooks and helpers in the kitchen.

A multidisciplinary team - Psychologist, Social Worker, Special Education specialist, Therapists (physical, speech, & occupational), Neurologist/Pediatrician, Dentist, Dermatologist, Nutritionist, Nurses -  sets the development program for each one of our children to reach their full potential.  Our team of medical doctors all work ad honorum with us.

Our school has a Principal, teachers, and aides, plus special teachers of music and dance.

We pray that this campaign will ignite in your heart and move like wildfire and we could raise far more than the goal. Wouldn't that be a miracle to the glory of God?

Medicine and other medical expenses
Just medicine - not testing or Dr fees - for our 26 children averages over $2000/ month. We cannot wait even one day to buy what is needed.

Food
We spend over $1000/month for food. Some special items like PediaSure that are very expensive.

Other Household supplies like toilet paper. Can you go one day in your family without toilet paper?
Disinfectant to mop the floors, bug spray, trash bags.  The list is long.

Personal Hygiene
Diapers, baby wipes, latex gloves, hand soap, toothpaste.  We literally need mountains of stuff like that.

Now we need you to listen to the Holy Spirit about what He wants you to do to keep this wonderful home and school going strong! Most of our children arrive in wheelchairs or unable even to roll over in the bed, we do physical therapy everyday, six days a week.  Our kids reap the benefits of all that hard work.  They are up and moving and happier to be more independent than the day they moved into Los Gozosos!

If surgery will help them, like releasing Carlos tendon so he can step on the bottom of his right foot for the first time in his life, we get that done.  He used to walk on the back of his toes.  Carlos will get similar surgery on his right hand soon again with the help of 'Clínicas Moore' in Guatemala City.

Belky got her gastric feeding tube with our very own Dr. Julio Veras and all his team at Hospital EbenEzer, Chimal.  She is gaining weight already!

We do speech and occupational therapy throughout the day, everyday; teaching our children ask for what they want, to eat by themselves, to dress, bathe, and brush their teeth.  We teach them to wash dishes, sweet the floor, fold clothes and set the table.  It is easier and quicker to just do the job ourselves but they love to help and we believe everyone is happier the more independent they are in their daily life.  We would not be good parents if we made them more dependent on us.

All this takes very special people working with them from early morning until the children crawl into bed and then watching over them all night long.  A big part of this budget goes to these very special people; nannies, teachers, and nurses plus the others who work behind the scenes; cleaning, washing and hanging out the clothes, answering the telephone and the door, cutting the grass, preparing the food, shopping, etc, all the things that every family does every day but for a much bigger family.  You take care of your family, help us take care of ours.

This is Estefany enjoying swinging out in the sun.  She would make a great model; she is tall and lovely and strikes a pose whenever we take pictures (maybe a future Instagram sensation).  Estefany is learning to walk, she can pick up her feet now and almost sustain her own weight before her legs buckled. She can already eat almost completely by herself, she is learning how to hold her plate still. We love her and will not give up until she reaches her full potential!
