Lorelei's Leukemia Journey

On Tuesday April 27, my niece, Lorelei was diagnosed with an extremely rare type of Leukemia. Lorelei's Leukemia is called mixed Phenotype Acute Leukemia (MPAL). This type of Leukemia accounts for only 2-3% of all Leukemia cases every year. After a month in the hospital Lorelei was released May 26, 2021. Unfortunately she did not go into remission at that time. On June 8, 2021, Lorelei started her second round of treatment. After this treatment they will do a biopsy to see if she is in remission. If she is in remission, the family will be sent to Nashville for a bone marrow transplant that will more than likely come from her youngest brother, Clark, as the donor. She will spend around a month in the hospital in Nashville, then will be released, but the family will have to stay within 10 minutes of the hospital for another 2-3 months. They are currently looking for accommodations. 

Lorelei is a happy-go-lucky, active 13 year old. She loves running track, in fact she ran in a track meet the day before being diagnosed. She also loves the beach, her plants, her cat and reading. She is a very creative, kind, funny girl.

All money donated will go to my sister, Ashley Truett, her husband Lance and their daughter Lorelei Truett to be placed towards medical costs including hospital stays, co-pays, when she is released from the hospital, prescription costs, transplant related costs and any other unforeseen medical bills. We appreciate any donations, but also understand if you are unable to give at this time. Prayers are very much appreciated and needed for Lorelei's healing.
