My name is Kenny Hill and I am the son of Mike and Michelle. I am so excited to tell you my story! I am seeking $2700 to help fund a photography trip abroad to Australia in June 2018. The total cost of the trip is approximately $6000. The money I am seeking will be supplemented by the Ellis Award, a travel based $1500 scholarship, that I was awarded from Trinity Prep, as well as funds that both my parents and I will be donating.

What has me inspired to take this trip?

The idea of being able to travel abroad and to live out the venturous side of my personality and to be able to visit ends of the world and have a learning experience all at the same time are dreams that I have. Since I was a little boy, being able to be out on an adventure or exploring new places has always intrigued me.

How am I going to prepare for the trip?

Looking at the itinerary for the trip to Australia, I am brought back to my childhood feelings of adventure and exploration. Venturing out to the outback we are able to find and swim in hot springs, bask under waterfalls, and experience completely new wildlife all in the beautiful outback of Australia. Where else would you want to go, other than the outback to explore!

The trip really struck home again as it being hosted by Mr. Bowden, the photography teacher. Photography has entered my life as a passion and even a potential job opportunity for myself in the future. The last two years, I have taken Photo 1 with Mr. Bowden, currently taking Photo 2 this semester and was omitted to the Trinity Prep Voice Newspaper as a photographer.

Photography has been a blessing for me, and this trip opportunity would blow my mind to be able to not only go to Australia but be able to photograph the trip with a group full of people that are just as dedicated to photography as myself.

What do I hope to gain from this trip and how am I going share my experiences?

With this trip I hope to gain a sense of how other cultures in the world relate to and differ from our own. This opportunity to be able to travel to a whole new continent, would truly help me to understand and relate with a new set of people and what they call their home culture. I hope to gain an understanding of Australia’s culture, their languages, and just simply the beautifulness that Australia has to offer.

Through this I hope to make life long friendships and memories with my group members, our tour guides, and most importantly the people we meet in Australia. My photography abilities would be my main source of how I would share our trip. However, photography would not be my only way to share my experience. I hope to be able to tell stories for a lifetime of the things I see, the wildlife we encounter, and the memories we make along the way.
