Long Winter's Night

Donation protected
The Albuquerque Friends Meeting (Quakers) provides limited support to our unhoused neighbors: primarily access to water and electricity to charge devices, along with a safe place to rest during the day, snacks and occasional availability of warm clothing or blankets (which we have in very limited supply).

As winter approaches, there are times when our unhoused neighbors face extreme and life threatening conditions: cold, wind, hunger, and moisture. They face a chronic need for adequate warm clothing, blankets, etc. Occasionally, when extreme weather events occur, shelters are full and hotel vouchers through agencies are unavailable on short notice. At least two individuals died during extreme weather events in Albuquerque last winter.

The Meeting seeks to develop a fund to purchase hotel vouchers and essential, life saving supplies, for emergency distribution this winter. Similarly, we sometimes have the opportunity to support someone who is getting off the streets with essential supplies to furnish an apartment and basic needs.

This Go Fund Me campaign will provide a financial resource to meet such needs. Since "pass through" funds cannot be accepted by the Meeting, the Sanctuary Task Force elected to start a separate "Go Fund Me" for these needs. Unfortunately, donations are not tax exempt at this time.

Albuquerque Monthly Meeting will provide updates on this effort in monthly meetings for worship for business, as well as on our website (www.abqfriends.org) and Facebook page throughout the season. \

We invite you to consider a donation and share widely with your own network of family and friends!

With gratitude to any and all who contribute to this campaign!
