LONG BEACH KHMER KICKBOXING MOVING EXPENSES

Long Beach Khmer Kickboxing Center has recently received some bad news. The Mission that owns the location they have been in for 35 years, will be part of a redesign/expansion of the Mission’s homeless housing project and the gym will need to move from its historic location by August 1st.

It is a melancholy atmosphere with the gym at the moment with so many memories and so much history in this cozy 1200 sq foot gym.

Master Oumry the consummate survivor, is optimistic about the future though as he is scouting a few potential places to move the gym to that are close by and still in the “Little Cambodia” area of Long Beach. However always a modest man of modest means, Master Oumry and the gym were not prepared to lose their home of 35 years and have to move on such short notice. We are reaching out to the Martial Arts community and other communities help cover moving expenses to a new location so that Master Oumry may continue to keep up the traditon he has had for the past 35 years in bringing the rare art of Cambodian Pradal Serey to the Long Beach community and the world.

Master Ounry is the former world champion of Pradal Serey and was active from 1962 through 1975 until the Khmer Rogue seized control of Cambodia. After surviving and escaping (a story chronicled in a recent book titled "I Am Oum Ry," Master Oumry came to the United States and settled in Long Beach where he opened his gym, The Long Beach Kickboxing Center, the oldest southeast Asian kickboxing school in Southern California. He has produced 16 champions out of this legendary location that they must now give up.

Please help Master Oumry relocate the gym so that he can continue teaching and sharing this amazing martial art.
