Help Hiro to "Hero" the people of Lombok!!
High magnitude earthquakes have rocked Lombok & the Gili Islands for the past couple of weeks having a devastating effect on the people in Lombok and it's beautiful Islands. These earthquakes have had an extreme and drastic effect on the people of Lombok leaving hundreds of thousands of displaced, frightened, and hungry. Many food supply outlets/supermarkets have been destroyed, homes are either totally destroyed or that badly structurally damaged, it is no longer safe for people to sleep inside or occupy their homes. The reality is with the almost total shut down of the tourist sector in the Gilis which employed thousands of people from Lombok, these people have no where to live and no money to buy essentials such as food and water and tarpaulins needed for shelter as they camp outside, waiting for the tremors to stop and find the money to rebuild their homes. With no job prospects, the true impact of this disaster will not be known for many months to come.
We have been blessed to have Musahir (Hiro), stay with us at our home in Australia on two holidays over the past 2 x years. Musahir is like a son to us. Now Musahir finds himself unemployed, and sleeping either on the road or in the field. Yesterday, he used his own money to purchase food and water, and drive to the North of Lombok, to see his friends in the village that has been 100% destroyed. Remarkable that throughout his own trauma he is trying to help others.
We are trying to help Hiro to raise money so he can buy more food, water and tarpaulins that are going to be needed for when the rain starts in the coming months, and to distribute these supplies to the North where the damage is almost 100%.
Hiro has been a close friend of ours for more than 6 years, making our family holidays in the Gilis a memorable and happy time for our children, our family and our friends. He is a honest, caring and genuine person, and we believe he is ideally located to be able to help so many, and so directly.
