I'm raising money in aid of The Walton Centre charity by running the Cardiff Half Marathon on 27th March.

In December 2020, I had, without warning, a brain haemorrhage, which was caused by an Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM) rupture.

An AVM is an abnormal tangle of blood vessels in the brain which is present from birth and rarely discovered until something serious happens. Due to their fragile nature, AVMs are susceptible to spontaneous rupture. Unfortunately, the effects of an AVM haemorrhage can be devastating: brain damage and even death are common outcomes.

Following my brain haemorrhage, I had successful AVM surgery at the Walton Centre in Liverpool on the 1st March 2021. The world class team there is simply amazing. I cannot thank them enough for getting me back to the position I am in today. I can live my life almost like I did before, and I totally owe the brilliant people at the Walton Centre for that.

A year ago today I would not have thought I’d be able to achieve the goal of running at all, let alone a half marathon, and now this year it means so much more to run it for a cause that has life saving impacts.

I’ll be more than grateful if you can support me in this as it means so much to me, and raising funds for The Walton Centre will help countless others.
