Many of you are confused about my father's passing. If you have seen him recently, he was his usual vibrant, active and outgoing self. You've asked, how is this even possible?
On Tuesday, he went to the hospital due to a massive stroke that resulted in extensive damage to his right brain. The trauma caused his brain to "swell up". He needed surgery to relieve the pressure but that intervention was not enough. He had a second stroke in the hospital that affected the left side of his brain also and the swelling continued rapidly. The prognosis at that point was grim. All the options presented to us would have put more trauma and stress to his body and could only stop any additional deterioration but not reverse any of the damage already done up to this point. My father has expressed to me many times his wishes if anything like this were to happen to him. It was a heart wrenching decision but we as a family decided to honor my fathers wishes and change his plan of care from aggressive treatment to comfort care. He passed away naturally; very comfortably and peacefully.
He was independent, strong, lived life to the fullest, helped his friends and community and most of all, he was the kindest person that was so loved by many. It was a privilege to have him as a father.
My father was not the richest person but his generosity and love was bountiful. The person he held closest to his heart was his grandson Christopher. Christopher is 12 years old and has lived with my father since birth.
In lieu of flowers or for those that have expressed the desire to contribute, we would like to set up this GOFUNDME to set up a college scholarship for Christopher's future.

Vào hôm thứ ba (Mar 6, 2018), Ba phải vào bệnh viện vì bị tai biến nghiêm trọng, hậu quả là não bên phải bị hư rất nhiều. Tại bệnh viện Ba bị tai biến lần thứ hai nên tình trạng xấu đi. Mặc dù được các Bác sỹ tận tình cứu chữa nhưng Ba đã ra đi trong nhẹ nhàng và an lành.
Ba là một người tự lập, mạnh mẽ, sống hết lòng, luôn giúp đỡ bạn bè và mọi người chung quanh. Và trên tất cả, Ba là người có tấm lòng nhân hậu, chính vì vậy Ba được mọi người hết lòng thương mến. Ba chính là một đặc ân mà cuộc đời tôi có được.
Ba tôi không là một người giàu có tiền bạc, nhưng trái tim và tình cảm của Ba thật tuyệt vời. Người gần gủi nhất mà Ba tôi hết mực yêu thương đó là: Chirstopher Nguyễn, 12 tuổi, cháu ngoại ruột của Ba. Chúng tôi làm nên web: GOFUNDME để tạo nên một quỹ học bổng để dành cho Christopher trong tương lai khi vào đại học. Đây là một mong ước của Ba khi còn sống và chúng tôi cố gắng thực hiện mộng ước này.
