Support the Local Progress Guild's One Day Strike Fund

The Local Progress Guild is asking for your support. Please consider donating to our Strike Hardship Fund. Funds will be dispersed to non-exempt unit members to help offset the cost of the One Day Strike, which was authorized by a 95% vote. Funds will go toward missed wages for affected employees. We have a talented and dedicated team, willing to fight for each other and for what we strongly believe all our members deserve. We want to show up for them too. Context

In 2022 we collaboratively negotiated our first contract with management where we secured a four-day work week (32 hours) with no reduction in pay and high-quality benefits, setting the standard for sustainable work across the non-profit sector.

But after over 30 bargaining sessions and over 200 days of Guild members working under an expired contract, management is refusing to abandon their fixed positions and engage in reciprocal movement.

As Local Progress staff, we stand right by our LP members’ sides to support their critical work to make our democracy more racially and economically just. We organize events small and large (like National Convening); we draft and give feedback on legislative language; we connect members to subject-matter experts and organizing partners; we provide messaging guidance and talking points; we lift up the successes of our network in print and on social media; and we’re there in the fight alongside you as our federal government turns its authoritarian attacks towards you and your communities, and much more.

Our labor is essential in making LP an impactful home for hundreds of committed progressive local leaders. We love our work and hope to sustainably continue it over the long haul. To that end, our demands are simple: fair wage increases to deal with skyrocketing cost of living, protecting our four-day work week, and preventing overwork and uncompensated labor. We are now escalating the pressure to demonstrate our collective power.

95% of Local Progress Guild members voted to authorize a One Day Strike to force Local Progress management to bargain fairly, in good faith, and in accordance with the values this work requires of us.
