Joanah “Canela” Bodero is a Mother to a 7 year old, Wife, Friend, Physicians Assistant, Capoeira Professor and Business Owner.
Canela dedicates her life to the wellness of her family, friends, patients and community members. She has tirelessly served her community as a Physician's Assistant in the Hematology & Oncology Department at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Miami Beach, and now she needs our help as she undergoes Breast Cancer Treatment.
Her story:
Over the weekend of November 28th, Canela got the news that her biopsy is positive for cancer. Because of the advanced markers, the doctors have quickly scheduled her to have surgery on Christmas Eve, Dec 24, 2020 to have a bilateral mastectomy. This news comes at a very challenging time.
Canela is also the Co-Owner of a Fitness & Wellness Studio that she and her husband put their life savings into opening. The studio is dedicated to helping people lead healthier and happier lives. Their opening day open was on February 14th, 2020, weeks before the COVID-19 pandemic hit. As you can imagine, this has caused a financial burden for her and her family.
The money raised will help to cover her treatments costs and allow her to focus on her own health and well being while also maintaining her business, Ocean Life Studio, during recovery.
