Colleagues who took part in a marking and assessment boycott to withdraw less than 10% of their annual workload had some 72 days of pay deducted from their wages. For some colleagues individually the total deduction is close to £10,000. The university claims that it does not accept partial performance, but colleagues continued to teach students and carried on with research. The university says it accepts this as voluntary work. The University and College Union has worked to stop these deductions, but in the meantime has set up a gofundme page to take donations so that hardworking families can get paid what they deserve.

The University and College Union has been working with the University of Portsmouth to resolve these issues and support its members.
