On January 30th, 2018 at 4:50 am our beautiful little boy, Jase was born. The problem was, I was only a few days shy of being 20 weeks pregnant with him. So on that day, we had to say both hello, and see you later to our son, who didn't get a chance to take a breath in this world.
Wade and I were given the opportunity to hold him, cuddle him, memorize his perfect little face, and just be with him for the entire day. We soaked in each moment with him, and even got the opportunity to have professional photo's taken of him, to cherish forever.
This wouldn't have been possible, if it wasn't for the CuddleCot available at the Lois Hole Hospital for Women, where he was delivered. This device gives bereaved parents and families more time to spend with their child who has been taken far too soon. The CuddleCot is used to keep the baby's temperature down, slowing natural processes, allowing families precious time to bond with baby, take photos, or simply cherish moments, during this time of immense loss.
We are incredibly grateful for the fact that Jase was born at a hospital with a CuddleCot. Had things progressed only a few hour earlier, Jase would have been born in Lac La Biche, which doesn't have one of these devices. Our time with our baby boy would have been significantly shorter had this been the case.
It is our goal to raise enough funds to donate a CuddleCot to William J. Cadzow hospital in Lac La Biche, in Jase's memory. The time we got to have with our son is the most precious to us, and allowed us to create memories, knowing we wouldn't have the opportunity to bring him home.
It is our hope, that no family in our community will go without having the chance to have the moments we were blessed with. We know we are not the first, and unfortunately won't be the last family in our community to experience the devastation of losing a baby. Help us give the gift of time, to families experiencing the heartbreaking loss of their little one.
