Mr. Walker's Medical Expenses

My name is Sue Bodziach and I have decided to start this page to assist my friend Dawn Schempp’s father who is an amazing man.  I have known Dawn since our days at Steel Valley High and I have always admired her.  She is someone who would give the shirt off of her back to a total stranger.  And, she has the most incredible relationship with her Dad.  He means the world to her. In March of 2011, Mr. Walker was diagnosed with esophageal cancer and forced to retire from work.  He had an immediate esophagectomy in which they removed 90 percent of his esophagus.  After a long recovery that included many setbacks and a few further surgeries, he was cancer free.  In October of 2014, he started having a lot of pain in his hip area.  It got so bad he finally agreed to get a CT scan.  When the scan came back, he was then sent to get a biopsy. Just two days before Thanksgiving, he was diagnosed with the Stage 4 Gastro-Esophageal Junction Cancer which has metastasized to his bone. He was told by his doctor’s that the chemotherapy pill that will allow him to live more comfortably is going to cost $500 every two weeks.  I am setting up this page hoping that you can help Mr. Walker and his family defer some of the enormous medical costs.  Most of you know either myself or Dawn, so you all know what a big heart she has.  Please help my friend keep her Dad happy as long as possible.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart.  Love you all, Sue
